Australia and US Exaggerate Terrorism 'threat' in order to Consolidate Power over Local Populations posted by Scott Burchill via claire, 2015-06-24 12:50:46
Governments contrive moral panics to consolidate domestic political support. An alleged “existential” foreign threat is particularly useful. It encourages the population to rally behind the leader, accept restrictions on their civil liberties and support higher levels of funding for the military and intelligence sectors.

The veracity of the threat is almost irrelevant. What matters is that the public buys the 'danger.' (full story)

John 'cronulla race riots' Howard and Tony 'the boats, terrorism' Abbott Zaky Mallah: the Divisionist “them or us” mentality of Tony Abbott posted by baz, 2015-06-23 13:40:28
Tony Abbott, deceiver, DISTRACTOR and LIAR extraordinaire, recently seized the opportunity to criticise the public broadcaster (ABC) for allowing a convicted Muslim felon a platform to air his views on ISIL and the ‘terrorist threat,’ which Abbott and his conservatives are flogging to death in the media to distract the population away from focusing on Abbott’s cruel policies which continue to target the vulnerable and average Australian citizens -- we notice immediately Abbott’s inability to attack ‘corporatists,’ which group is ripping Australia blind via tax avoidance and the wholesale plunder of OUR national resource wealth. Anti-piracy site-blocking laws: what you need to know posted by Tim Biggs via bryan, 2015-06-23 11:37:43
In a nutshell, the new anti-piracy laws which passed through the senate on Monday, are designed to make it more difficult for Australians to access websites that film, TV and music companies say are hosting their content without permission. (full story)

The Resounding Success of SPIEF spells WAR -- Make No Mistake posted by Pepe Escobar via juan, 2015-06-22 03:54:18
I do not take issue with Escobar's account of events at the recent St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) but with his baseless jubilation, obvious bias and misinterpretation. Anyone with a modicum of familiarity with the sick neocon bastards that control Washington is aware that under no circumstances would the US allow itself to be trumped by any military, economic power or group. We should never forget the revealing statement by leading neocon and Zionist, Richard Perle, who blatantly stated, "what's the point of having nuclear weapons if you don't use them;" and so the hard reality of the US encircling Russia and China hits home. 'Blue tie' puppets, Obama and dubya Bush “Mission Accomplished” posted by sam, 2015-06-20 02:57:30
For those citizens that remain impervious to the effects of the 24 hour ‘news’ cycle/memory wipe, it is a simple matter to recall and remember how then puppet of the corporate-banker elite, president dubya Bush, stood on the deck of a US naval vessel and touted that the Iraq mission was accomplished! However, prior to that buffoon reading from a prepared script, neocon and sociopath Paul Wolfowitz stated publicly that the invasion and takeover of Iraq would be a “cakewalk” and that the Iraqi population would welcome mass murdering American troops with “bouquets of flowers,” probably in gratitude for US embargos and sanctions which killed over 500,000 innocent Iraqi children due to the lack of essential medical supplies. Barack Hussein Obama Puppet Obama's Libya Fiasco posted by Andres Cala via stacey, 2015-06-19 10:47:47
It should be noted that everywhere the US and its NATO ally have intervened over the past decade the result has been the ruination of the interfered with nation and countless lost innocent lives. These criminal interventions, under one pretext or another, must cease as they have clearly proven disastrous for not only the intervened nation but for world stability and security. The refugee problem has exploded and various extremist groups have been spawned as a direct consequence of the vandalism and sociopathic policies of America and its NATO ally. Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan have proven that these interventions have destabilised the ENTIRE world. The principals behind these interventionist policies should be arrested and held to account for contravening international law and the obvious crime of mass murder. (full story)

Julian Assange The Tragic case of Flawed Personality Julian Assange posted by zed, 2015-06-19 05:34:49
Fellow Australian John Pilger has recently written another overtly biased article in support of Julian Assange, whose situation is largely the result of his own making, notwithstanding the known behaviour of criminal lackey governments that overtly flout justice and serve the interests of the most criminal, mass murdering government of them all, Washington. Lying Abbott A Message to Australian Drongos re: Abbott, “The Boats” and “Border Security” posted by baz, 2015-06-19 02:18:56
All we hear from Abbott lately is, “the boats, the boats, the boats,” meanderings on stripping citizenship from nationals and the (miniscule) ISIL terrorism ‘threat’ to the nation. (full story)
