They Haven't Got A Clue posted by Dr Paul Craig Roberts via mitch, 2016-02-12 08:50:50 Not so long ago informed Aussies used to mock ignorant, banjo-playing, flag-waving Americans. But times have changed and the plague (ignorance) that only infected America has now infected most of the western world -- the infective agent of course is the privately owned, CFR controlled, corporate mass media, which is nothing more than a disinformation machine. American propaganda, combined with new digital technologies fashioned in such a way as to encourage narcissism and insulate millennials from reality, has led to a pervasive ignorance; the focus of the vast majority today is whether they are 'liked,' more selfies if they are not until they get a thumbs up, the process is circular and immensely time consuming, perfect! WWIII Inevitable posted by staff report via claire, 2016-02-11 21:21:51 The situation in Syria and the Middle East goes from bad to worse, now with vassal gulf states threatening to send troops into Syria to support their terrorist proxies, of course all under the guiding lunatic hand of neocon controlled Washington. Trans-Pacific Partnership Signed in New Zealand amid Mass Protests posted by Tom Peters via jane, 2016-02-10 23:16:40 Have no illusions, the TPP is a private, multi-national bloc that subverts democracy and allows private interests to sue the democratically elected governments of signatory nations over 'projected' profit loss threatened by such 'petty' concerns such as workers rights, safe working conditions and environmental concerns, particularly pollution and other toxic threats, not to mention anticipated price hikes on medications and other essentials and the certain off-shoring of thousands of jobs. Put simply, the TPP must be stopped, the price of acquiescence to profit-only-driven concerns is far too great. Allowing avaricious private entities to hold legal sway over sovereign nations and domestic laws is an outrage!

There is no Left or Right, Oligarchs and Plutocrats Rule Today posted by jess, 2016-02-10 00:00:44 I lament the fact that the so-called alternative media has also been swept up in the charade/ruse of democratic elections. An elementary school kid is able to trace the money and easily appreciate who actually rules and yet the blind lead the blind with ‘left and right’ illusions when in fact it is the oligarchs and plutocrats that determine who takes leadership of all western nations today. Beginning of End for Petro-Dollar posted by staff report via jake, 2016-02-08 06:57:26 Iran has just announced it will trade its plentiful oil in euros rather than dollars and so the writing is on the wall for the petro-dollar particularly in view of the fact that the USA utilises its currency to wage economic warfare. Indeed, America has forced the situation on itself by subverting its own currency and forcing targeted (for ‘containment’) nations to establish new trade relationships/blocs based on other currencies and trading banks. US Risking World War III in Syria posted by Joe Lauria via jess, 2016-02-06 11:10:27 Defense Secretary Ashton Carter last October said in a little noticed comment that the United States was ready to take “direct action on the ground” in Syria. Vice President Joe Biden said in Istanbul last month that if peace talks in Geneva failed, the United States was prepared for a “military solution” in that country. (full story) prose / international
Assange and False Hope posted by baz, 2016-02-05 22:25:59 Assange supporters have been buoyed recently by a UN declaration that he has been ‘arbitrarily detained.’ Indeed he has, however, what chance does Assange have of gaining his freedom? Little if reality is assessed. (full story) prose / international
Oz Bankers: culture of sex, drugs and rock & roll, revealed posted by Jonathan Shapiro via judy, 2016-02-05 06:26:54 A $30 million unfair dismissal case pursued by a former trader of ANZ Bank has revealed a sordid banker culture that warrants a government investigation, especially after a clearly political Royal Commission into Trade Unions. However, (proven) useless PM Malcolm Turnbull, a former Goldman Sachs employee and banker, would be loath to pursue such an action against his elite brethren. And so the offended and long-suffering Australian people must make the decision for him at the next federal election. Turnbull's policy to increase a regressive, punitive GST by 50% should be his and his elite-serving conservative party's downfall as the rot that infects the entire corrupt corporate/banker sector now becomes public knowledge. So what are you going to do, Malcolm -- nothing, no doubt? (full story) prose / international
In the Halls of Criminal and Deluded Washington posted by Philip Giraldi via carol, 2016-02-04 21:39:16 Tulsi Gabbard is one brave Congresswoman. She has challenged her party and the president saying that it’s time for Washington to halt its “illegal, counter-productive war to overthrow the Syrian government of Assad. I don’t think Assad should be removed. If Assad is removed and overthrown, ISIS, al Qaeda, Al Nustra, these Islamic extremist groups will walk straight in and take over all of Syria … they will be even stronger.” (full story) prose / international
The Gargantuan Media Blind Spot posted by james, 2016-02-03 21:02:25 The international refugee crisis has been saturating the news for some time yet the cause -- Washington’s grossly illegal regime change wars and CIA supported proxy fighting groups -- are never mentioned as the obvious cause. Now note that the vast, if not all refugees issue from regions and nations the US and its lackey NATO partner have destabilised, FACT! So how is it possible that western news outlets overlook the CAUSE of the problem and delay the simple cure? (full story) prose / international
Writing – A tip for Professionals posted by jude, 2016-02-02 23:37:39 The primary, effective message that bypasses the conscious mind is transmitted in the secondary layer of the discourse or SUBTEXT, for instance, if one wishes to trash the two-party political charade, it does not serve the writer well to focus the reader on that issue DIRECTLY via long-winded explanations/rhetoric or didactic means. Rather, direct the reader’s focus on the ‘other,’ independents for example, and then indirectly praise how that ‘other’ represents the true wishes of the people and not special interests, which interests both major political parties serve. Oz Conservative Party -- cut corporate tax and make up Shortfall by taxing Public (GST) posted by darcy, 2016-02-02 22:03:10 Well, its no secret that ‘un-exciting’ PM Turnbull continues in the Abbott tradition, all lies, secrecy and sleight of hand -- essentially, all the way with the elite and slug the public with a 50% increase on a tax on everything to compensate for the revenue loss of corporate tax cuts, which group I might add are professional tax dodgers. "Ignorance is Power" posted by Georgina Kenyon via james, 2016-02-01 21:07:53 While the title indicates a classic Orwellian inversion it also states an unfortunate fact today. Ignorance is now a potentially lethal plague that threatens all humanity. To pre-empt the import of the following story, the title should read, 'Ignorance is Power for those who know.' The following piece is highly recommended to all our readers and should be disseminated widely in order to combat the dire threat that confronts us all. (full story) prose / international
US Relies Heavily on Saudis to Support Syrian 'Rebels' posted by Mark Mazzetti and Matt Apuzzo via jane, 2016-02-01 09:16:42 WASHINGTON — When President Obama secretly authorized the Central Intelligence Agency to begin arming Syria’s embattled rebels in 2013, the spy agency knew it would have a willing partner to help pay for the covert operation. It was the same partner the C.I.A. has relied on for decades for money and discretion in far-off conflicts: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. (full story) prose / international
Ants and the Terrorist Scourge posted by jack, 2016-02-01 00:02:38 I’m going to utilise the very apt analogy of colony ants to highlight the ease with which the world could cure its terrorism problem overnight. (full story) prose / international
