‘Please allow me to introduce myself I’m a man of wealth and taste,’ oops, Stones song - LOL - but seriously, take a good look at this guy, Snowden, the first thing he did was gain media notoriety which is anathema to authentic digital warriors and Uber hackers -- revealing one’s identity is probably worse than killing your grandmother in these circles, so Snowden fails the first basic test of authenticity. The second giveaway was trying to secure asylum in China, surely that odd effort reeks of agent, as everyone including the HK Chinese are aware that China is no bastion of freedom and liberal rights, so big fail number two -- I would add that the Chinese are not as stupid as vacuum-headed yanks and had no intention of granting Snowden asylum or welcoming him into the fold. The Supreme Court decision on Citizens United, which ruled that corporations and banks are "persons," was a further step infecting our entire politics and society with a serious mental disorder that has steadily contributed to the US's widening inequality gap, class struggle, and Americans' loss of democracy and freedom of speech. This year Assange spoke from his self-imposed prison at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London -- Assange has now painfully learnt the COST of breaking the cardinal rule of uber hackers, ANONYMITY! However, Assange’s discourse at the SXSW was interrupted by numerous technical breaks -- which is ironic if you consider the gathering is organised and run by digital ‘geeks’ -- try learning how to maintain communications by using multiple synchronised lines of various media interchanging between them if bogeys attempt to disrupt events -- the modern audience, God help the useless lamers, has no staying power whatsoever, which again verifies that social change is ALWAYS the RESULT of actions and strategies of a very few highly motivated and skilled individuals; in that context Assange’s address simply became another exercise in narcissism. America’s wars over the past decade have highlighted many heinous crimes but one stands out in particular, the slaughter of innocent civilians! The huge number of civilian deaths from relatively contained small wars is outrageous -- over 1.4 million in Iraq alone -- a figure which is an affront to all moral and civilised societies and needless to say, is completely unacceptable.
