The next principle is the tetrad or four (4) and what is it’s essential characteristic? SOLIDITY, corporeality, as represented by the ‘sacred’ tetrahedron -- add ‘one’ to three and you get solid matter.

It would now appear that we have completed the cycle and arrived at matter but we are dealing with essential (essence) principles and matter alone is far from complete manifestation as we know it in the third dimension -- has anyone guessed the next stage?

What is missing is movement/action, add another ‘one’ to solid matter and we have the pentad or five (5) principle, which is KINESIS or the activating, motivating principle. Now please note the essential shapes or forms of these geometric principles. The four, tetrahedron as matter, always rests firmly on one of its surfaces, it is a very STABLE, (frozen) form -- a tetrahedron is probably the least shape suited for mobility. A five however, think of a pentagram, is unbalanced and is unable to rest as it is ‘top-heavy,’ which acts as a motivating/propelling force.

Ah! so now it would appear we have everything, we have progressed from an indivisible point to moving, activated matter but we are far from complete, think of the shape of a hexagram and you may be able to intuit the next necessary stage.

Yes indeed, the five or pentad lacks balance, it is ‘top heavy,’ and therefore constantly in motion, searching if you will, for that something it lacks, HARMONY, which is found in the next stage, the hexad, the first essential form of harmonious balance.

So to summarise the sequence in single word representations so far -- we have:

1. Manifestation
2. Division
3. Creation
4. Foundation
5. Movement
6. Balance

Remember that geometry and number are a universal language as they represent (essences) essential forces/forms which work in concert to unfold creation. It is therefore easily appreciated that these forces are able to reveal the secrets of existence if studied correctly .

The final three principles (7,8,9) to be covered in the final paper, are higher octaves of all the preceding principles; however, certain harmonies and dis-harmonies are already becoming apparent. Notice has each principle is antithetical to the principle that preceded it -- most people are familiar with the expression to be “at sixes and sevens," which means chaos, disarray; do not forget that these principles are ‘progress-ive,’ each additional principle becomes a radical transition from the principle that preceded it, but more next time. In the meantime try to get a ‘feel’ for these numbers/forces/principles; if the good Swami (Anandakapila) is disposed he may add Yantric representations of each force to these discourses with a brief description of how personal Yantras may be drawn and used for self-integration and as focuses for meditation.

Number theory properly understood would serve you well. The entire universe is governed by mathematical cycles. Chaos theory and all theories that oppose universal harmony simply reveal a lack of understanding. Infinity/continuity is necessarily [self-evident] perfect by nature.

We should also appreciate that Pythagoras and Newton were mystics, numerologists and astrologers respectively but modern science is loath to admit the fact and teach modern students that Newton and Pythagoras were highly intuitive beings -- how else pray tell does modern science account for the wealth and magnitude of their amazing discoveries?

There is no avoiding the intuitive faculty (anathema to science) as an essential and necessary component to understanding profound realities and connecting humans to Universal Harmonies.
