Google, your data suppression methods are obvious, easily recorded, abysmally inept and generally pathetic.

Supermarkets Resume Discussions with Local Producers

These talks seem to be missing a major point and that is that Tony Abbott, party leader and PM, is in the pocket of the plutocrats that installed him into office -- remember that (wish list) gala dinner for Abbott hosted by Rupert Murdoch and Gina Rinehart? Regardless of what ministers may wish or present to the public, Abbott is boss and will dictate policy according to the wish list he has been given by his masters, make no mistake!

Proven "dishonest and misleading" (ACCC) Coles CEO, Ian McLeod
Proven "dishonest and misleading" (ACCC) Coles CEO, Ian McLeod

We have already seen how local growers and food suppliers have been trammeled by global food corporations; the most recent devastating example are the fruit growers of the Goulburn Valley region that have been gutted and forced to burn thousands of acres of fruit trees due to profit-only driven corporations which cited “China” and “South Africa” as producing canned fruit marginally cheaper than our local producers -- BUT PROFIT IS NOT THE POINT -- sustainability and FOOD SOVEREIGNTY is under attack, which for those unable to connect the dots, means that Oz becomes a slave nation to borderless mega-corporations that are able to hold the country to ransom any time they wish -- notwithstanding the long term PRICE MONOPOLY effect. “Those that do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it!"

Remember how Coles and Woolies originally promised far cheaper prices and better quality goods than smaller, independent local fruit and veg retailers? After forcing smaller retailers out of business by selling below cost, supermarket chains quickly began profiteering, which is standard policy today. Supermarkets are now the most expensive food retailers. They sell mediocre, average quality goods to suit a broad spectrum/'average person' market. They supply long (nitrogen) storage nutritionally compromised fruit, ice/frost damaged vegetables and other stock at inflated prices. Suburban fruit shops NOW easily out-compete the profiteering mega-supermarkets and usually stock higher quality produce -- and of course, farmers markets do even better; do Aussies trust the Chinese and other foreign suppliers that are known to tamper with food products in order to squeeze a profit, I think not?

But this is not about the corporate bottom line, it's about food sovereignty and an independent nation’s ability to support its population! Representative governments are duty bound to ENSURE LOCAL VIABILITY AT ALL TIMES! Are you reading this, proven dishonest, hit and run corporate CEO, Ian McLeod, and lackey PM, Tony ‘yes massa’ Abbott?
