Coming and Going

desperate screams
through the block
led me to the unit below,
other tenants
already at the door
so beside herself was
our hysterical neighbour
she was unable to open
her front door,
our urging only intensified her
screaming so i assisted an agile
female tenant thru the window
with strict instructions
no matter what she saw/confronted
to come straight to the door,
which she did
the elderly woman continued
screaming, “help, mamma, mamma!”
a strange exhortation
for a older woman, i thought
but hysterical desperation
knows no sense
her husband was lying on the bedroom floor
convulsing, urinating in his pants
and frothing slightly at the mouth
“call emergency, ambulance,
say heart attack,” tho i wasn’t sure,
but i knew they responded faster
to heart emergencies
he was in bad shape,
i looked at the others
no-one seemed to know
what to do but wait for help
not good enough in the circumstances,
“who knows CPR?” i blurted
silence and blank faces was the response
the agile girl was massaging his chest
it appeared ineffective
something odd occurred,
i crouched down pushed her hands
away placed my right hand over his heart
turned my head over my left shoulder
and ‘left’
i stayed away until i felt a jolt
i turned back in time to see him abruptly
return, open his eyes and lock onto mine
he was still in shock but he was back
in his body
he returned when i left
then i returned,
a strange coming and going
i held my hand over his heart
a little longer then instructed
the girl to continue massaging
at that point the ambos walked in,
“he had a fit,” i said, he’s still very shaky
the old man’s eyes were still locked onto mine,
he wasn’t quite conscious tho he was back
a new blood pressure drug
irresponsibly pushed by big pharma
was the culprit, half of Sydney on
those pills had fits but do u suppose
the drug company was held accountable
for their negligence and the serious harm
they caused?
not likely,
mega-corporations hide behind their
bought politicians at these
times
Frank Lowy, the same 9/11 Lowy
rang PM, John ‘aluminium tubing’ Howard,
to save him from a major tax fraud
investigation --
the media had released the details
the case was damning for Zionist
and former Mossad agent, Lowy;
the investigation was dropped,
thanks, John.
Howard’s protégé, Tony Abbott,
is now PM,
it promises to be an unpleasant
but eventful tenure
[politicians come at bargain prices these days]
