The Displacement of Peace Discourse by a Warmongering Media
by jude Friday, Feb 26 2016, 9:17pm
international / prose / post

It is no secret that the primary social discourse determines social character and behaviour. And so what have we all been witness to over the past 15 years? Yes, indeed, the eradication of all discourse on Peace. Both mainstream and alternative media have been harnessed or nose-ringed, almost all media discourse relates to war and its consequences, refugees, widespread destruction etc, with the usual titillating distractive content. The result of course is current world reality, permanent escalating wars, no surprise.

However, the REAL war is social and it is being waged on all of us by the western mass media/propaganda apparatus in EXACTLY the same fashion as the infamous Nazi propaganda ministry headed by evil genius, Josef Goebbels, who was familiar with the writings of Gustav Le Bon, an early exponent of ‘crowd control’ and the mechanisms by which it is achieved, led civilised Germany to the ravages of war. Le Bon was followed later by Freud’s nephew, Edward Bernays, who is reputed to have invented ‘Public Relations,’ a euphemism for social management using again methods employed by Goebbels i.e., emotive, visceral appeals playing on either fear or reward.

The 60’s, the last socially active generation, was characterised by revolutionary social movements assisted greatly by a DIVERSE media, which highlighted social injustices and the illegality of prosecuted wars of the time. American white and black voices of dissent were loudly broadcast across America and the western world, the result was the cessation of the illegal Vietnam mass murdering war and some gains in black social equality, though short lived those achievements were.

Nevertheless, the radical movements of the 60’s highlighted the importance of the discursive element in the social formation of behaviour. Indeed, dissenting voices were so effective at the time nefarious ultra-conservative powers immediately initiated an assassination program/campaign that targeted not only US presidents but pop stars that dared to sing freedom and the rejection of conservative, establishment values. Never has the modern world seen so many notable people murdered by the State as occurred at that time. Again a replication of Nazi/Gestapo tactics, find ‘em, kill ‘em and eliminate all traces of dissent from the primary social discourse, which has been effectively achieved today by the same nefarious forces that were responsible for the assassination of popular social leaders and mass communicators in popular culture in the 60’s and early 70’s.

When today’s media speaks of peace it is in the Orwellian inverted sense ‘peace is war,’ all ‘peace talks’ today are utilised to escalate war and more conflict, in fact, peace talks have become a tactical war strategy.

I make no bones about the fact that the mass mind is moronic to the extreme and easily managed, in that I must concede to the early writers on crowd control, however, aware of the means I must also loudly express the absolute need for a diversified media both in ownership and content, only then does a given society have a glimmer of hope of distinguishing the real from the apparent. This of course is achieved socially by restoring representative government, not a tall order but one that requires participation and withdrawing ALL support, including passive consumption of facile propaganda, from major owned political parties. Of course one begins at the local level and then moves toward the federal, however, society at large should always refuse all policies designed to concentrate media ownership, dilute regulatory laws and reject all forms of censorship or information management/control.
