NATO’s Loose Cannon ‘Sultan’ Erdogan Invades Iraq
by staff report via stacey - Global Research Saturday, Dec 5 2015, 11:13am
international / prose / post

It seems that criminal lunatic and self-styled ‘Sultan’ Erdogan has pulled another dangerous stunt after shooting down a Russian bomber engaged in legal and sanctioned by the UN, military operations to combat terrorists in Syria.

Erdogan dared Russia to provide proof that Turkey was engaged in facilitating illegal ISIL shipments of stolen oil and supplying weapons and supplies to Jihadi fighters in Syria. Russia complied with irrefutable evidence taken from satellites and surveillance aircraft -- it should also be noted that imbecile Erdogan stated he would resign if Russia was able to provide evidence of his criminal involvement in terrorism. Well, it has, so pack you tent and take the rest of your corrupt family and cronies with you!

But no, Erdogan’s response to rock-solid evidence of criminal complicity with ISIL has prompted another one of his desperate and bizarre dangerous actions, this time Erdogan ordered his military to invade Iraq and occupy strategic oil regions. Russia and NATO are not amused and neither is the Iraqi leadership that demanded the immediate withdrawal of Turkish forces from sovereign Iraqi territory. It seems that Erdogan is doing everything he possible could to trigger a confrontation between Russia and the West and so take the heat off himself and his rotten to the core family of criminals overtly engaged in the sale of stolen Syrian and Iraqi oil, allowing Jihadi fighters to flow freely through Turkey's borders and supporting same with weapons and supplies.

Whether or not Erdogan succeeds in his transparent ploy is another story as his actions have seriously exposed NATO and the US’s real agenda, global hegemony and the appropriation (theft) of dwindling energy resources. If NATO and the US continue to support Turkey then clearly they too are complicit in supporting extremist Jihadis and Erdogan’s lunatic criminal actions.

The following report covers the Iraqi reaction to Erdogan's uninvited incursion:

Iraq Demands ‘Immediate’ Withdrawal of Turkish Forces from Its Territory

President Abadi said the deployment, including tanks and artillery, is a ‘serious violation’ of Iraqi sovereignty

Iraq has called on Turkey to “immediately” withdraw forces, including tanks and artillery, it has deployed in the country’s north without Baghdad’s consent, the premier’s office said on Saturday.

“The Iraqi authorities call on Turkey to… immediately withdraw from Iraqi territory,” the statement said.

“We have confirmation that Turkish forces, numbering about one armoured regiment with a number of tanks and artillery, entered Iraqi territory… allegedly to train Iraqi groups, without a request or authorisation from Iraqi federal authorities,” it said.

The deployment “is considered a serious violation of Iraqi sovereignty,” it added.

Turkey, however, later denied that it has expanded its military activities in northern Iraq after it deployed troops close to an area controlled by the Islamic State group.

“The camp in Bashiqa, 30 kilometres north east of Mosul, is a training facility established to support local volunteer forces fight against terrorism,” Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said in a televised speech, denying reports that the deployment was in preparation for a ground operation against IS.

Turkish media reported that around 150 Turkish soldiers backed by 20 to 25 tanks had been sent by road to the Bashiqa area near Mosul, the Islamic State group’s main hub in Iraq.

Peshmerga forces from Iraq’s autonomous Kurdish region are deployed in the area, and Turkey’s Anatolia news agency said the troops were there to train them.

IS overran swathes of territory north and west of Baghdad last year, and Iraqi forces backed by US-led air strikes are battling to drive the militants back.

The peshmerga are one of the most effective Iraqi forces in the anti-IS fight, but coordination between them and the federal government in Baghdad has generally been poor.
