Why May Day and today’s Protest Movements Fail
by jess Thursday, May 1 2014, 12:20pm
international / prose / post

Hit me with a brick if I do not finally learn! May Day and various modern protests have come and gone and failed to achieve their stated objectives or goal, but WHY? You all should know the obvious answer, but here it is again for the X and Y generations which lack staying power. Single day or slightly extended protests, strikes, demos and marches only succeed if they galvanise the population to act in concert with protesters and if they PERSIST as a continuous process until goals are REALISED. In other words, lamers, all DISSENT, protests and actions only succeed if they are CONTINUOUS.

Mass murdering, criminal ruling elites laugh when they see parades, marches, demos and then watch 'steely willed' protesters pat each other and say, ‘gee, that was a great protest,' and then go home until next year -- give me a fuckin’ break!

I come from a generation that got things done, we didn’t stop protesting until the objective was realised, namely (at the time) the cessation of the illegal Vietnam war. We couldn’t wait to hit the streets and fight with the police (if necessary) -- I still have scalp scars from police batons and so do my comrades; it was a baptism of bloodied heads and murdered comrades that kept the flame of justice burning.

Now take note, lamers; the mass media had not been fully appropriated by the elites, anti-war messages on all available mediums and genres never stopped throughout the 60‘s; people gathered in outside social spaces, squares and public parks to discuss, deliberate and openly debate (we were not intimidated by agents) our next move and to arrange our next protest. Core groups would then return to their respective areas and inform others and at the appointed time we would flood the streets en masse. That is how it was done, it wasn’t over until final victory.

Now who do you supposed learnt from our tactics, strategies and persistence, why TODAY’S ruling elites, that 's who!? They immediately set to work until they finally appropriated all major mass media outlets that opposed them, they organised themselves into cooperative unified groups working toward agreed-upon goals -- today’s ultra-fascist elites work cooperatively socialist style because that is the way to succeed. They learned discipline and how to work in the interests of the group above personal interests and ambition, from us -- in fact, they learned almost all their present tactics, including, I’m sorry to say, organised terror tactics, hijacks and holding people to ransom from the various extremist brigades and para-military groups. They then bought the best brains in various fields and CONSOLIDATED, something we failed to do as we didn’t think it necessary at the time -- how wrong could we have been?

Elites run the show today and the overwhelming global majority remain divided, alienated and powerless.
