Tony Abbott’s Asylum Seeker Solution Revealed

After PNG and Indonesia virtually told Abbott to ‘go fly a kite’ over his asylum seeker 'solution,’ Abbott and Immigration Minister, Scott Morrison, have a new solution, the ostrich solution! Information on future boat arrivals will NOT be shared with the media -- what you can’t see can’t hurt you -- seems to be the new approach of Abbott’s inept conservative government.

Tony Abbott, as PM, is learning that talk and election spin is cheap, his dunce cabinet now has to perform! But now that we are getting a glimpse of his methods, Abbott would probably ban his ministers from revealing accurate information to the Australian people.

I might add that the Oz public deserves everything it gets from Abbott’s conservative government, Aussies fell for the ‘two horse one stable race,’ AGAIN!

The public, fully aware that both major parties are virtually owned by the same elite interests -- Murdoch stated that Rudd would make a good PM and look what happened! So Murdoch turned his media empire against Rudd, his former ‘golden haired boy,’ in favour of Abbott, the new PM and Murdoch puppet. However, it is abundantly CLEAR that Murdoch has chosen another useless dunce for the job of PM.

I sincerely hope the Oz public learn the obvious lesson -- ruling plutocrats have no idea about anything other than making money! So why do we allow them to install their puppets into office and lord over us?

Asylum boat Breaches Border and [media] Blackout

THE first asylum boat to arrive since Tony Abbott was sworn in as Prime Minister -- and a media blackout on new arrivals was imposed -- was escorted into Christmas Island yesterday.

It is believed there were about 30 people on the boat, which arrived at 11.30am, local time.

They were transferred to HMAS Maitland before being transferred to the island last night.Earlier, asylum-seekers could be seen drinking from water bottles in the sun.

Five children and five women were visible. Those on board appeared to be Middle Eastern.

Before everyone was transferred on to the navy boat, a naval officer handed a piece of paper to a man on board who appeared to read it.

Asylum-seekers are usually brought ashore as soon as they arrive, unless they reach the island after dark or close to dusk. On those occasions, it is often deemed unsafe to try to move people on to barges until the sun comes up.

A spokesman for Immigration Minister Scott Morrison declined to discuss yesterday's arrival.

"Briefings on these matters will be made under Operation Sovereign Borders on a weekly basis," the spokesman said.Under Labor, media releases were issued every time an asylum boat arrived, usually within 24 hours of interception.

Other information, such as detention centre populations and the transfer of asylum-seekers to Nauru or Papua New Guinea, was also made available.

Mr Morrison said weekly briefings would be held in lieu of contemporaneous announcements, with the first scheduled to take place today. The minister defended the new arrangements, which have been criticised by Labor as needlessly secretive, saying people-smugglers exploited the information. "Taking control of how that information is released denies people-smugglers the opportunity to exploit such information," he said in a statement. "Information on arrivals will be provided and it will be provided in a way that supports the objectives of the operation to stop the boats."

In an apparent reference to the frequent drownings or disasters at sea that befell asylum boats and their passengers, Mr Morrison said additional briefings would be held "as necessary in relation to specific events". Other information, such as the number of bridging visas issued, would be updated monthly, Mr Morrison said.

Former immigration minister Tony Burke accused Mr Morrison of refusing to take personal responsibility for the immigration portfolio and developing a media strategy to minimise scrutiny of his performance. "This is a media strategy, not a policy strategy," Mr Burke said. "Scott Morrison's going to have to discover pretty quickly that blowing an issue up in the media and running the story of the day is no longer his most important job. There's serious work to implement. And to make the regional resettlement arrangements work properly, not only does it need a sensible attention to detail, but it also requires a full level of transparency."

Mr Burke said the minister had a "personal responsibility" to keep the public informed.
