The level of trust in our media ‘information’ systems is plummeting faster than the temperature in an Arctic winter and for very good reason. The mass media is owned and controlled by oligarchs and billionaire plutocrats that take pride in their ability to guide the cultural consciousness in whichever direction THEY collectively choose. However, when that machine breaks, as it has since the BIG LIE of 9/11 (external ‘terrorists’) and Iraq WMD, continuing illegal invasions based on now transparent pretexts, which blatant media propaganda facilitated. Consider the utter destruction of Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Sudan, the Yugoslavian state, Syria etc etc, based on LIES (now exposed) though the list of ruined nations goes on and on. The inspiration for Hitler’s Monsters was, like Living With Hitler, in some respects contemporary. I began researching Living With Hitler in the early 2000s, in the wake of 9/11 and the Iraq War, when many American (and British) liberals appeared to be making cynical concessions to the forces of nationalism, imperialism, and autocracy. I wanted to understand why liberal-minded German Democrats appeared to make even more problematic concessions in the 1930s and 40s. Hitler’s Monsters was inspired, similarly, by contemporary questions: namely, in what way did supernatural, conspiratorial, faith-based thinking and an aversion to science and reason help facilitate “alt-right,” racist, illiberal, anti-democratic politics? Racism in America is a given, the world is aware of it, which other nation would ignore the crimes of Iraq, Libya, Syria, which are parallel to Hitler’s Nazi atrocities -- “we came, we saw, he died,” (Clinton) or how about killing over 500,000 Iraqi infants and young children is worth the STOLEN barrel of oil (Albright) -- at least 1.5 million INNOCENT ‘Iraqi’ (Arab) men, women and children murdered by the US and tens of millions displaced, and you doodle dreamboats are concerned about petty “statue” racism in the South -- get a fuckin’ grip for Christ’s sake. As children we are taught and forced by circumstance to take RESPONSIBILITY for our lives, those that resist become pathological personalities, infants in adult bodies, displaying all the characteristics of infants, chucking tantrums and blaming others when things do not go their way; maturing adults must navigate new opposing forces as they develop as a matter of survival -- which forces are varied but for the sake of simplicity loosely characterised here into positive and negative or constructive and destructive. No matter which perspective you take, Trump is finished. Many informed analysts and commentators attribute his inglorious demise to the Washington swamp or deep state, however, they were simply the means by which Trump brought himself undone, perhaps the deep state realised that if they persisted in their orchestrated attacks/agenda to remove him from office, Trump would do the rest himself.
