They Don't Call them Robber Barons for Nothing! posted by Ellen Brown via sal, 2013-04-09 22:35:18
Shock waves went around the world when the IMF, the EU, and the ECB not only approved but mandated the confiscation of depositor funds to “bail in” two bankrupt banks in Cyprus. A “bail in” is a quantum leap beyond a “bail out.” When governments are no longer willing to use taxpayer money to bail out banks that have gambled away their capital, the banks are now being instructed to “recapitalize” themselves by confiscating the funds of their creditors, turning debt into equity, or stock; and the “creditors” include the depositors who put their money in the bank thinking it was a secure place to store their savings. The Tragic Truth posted by dasha, 2013-04-01 09:11:51
Tragedy is complete ruin dressed in drama; truth is uncomfortable and confronting for the most part so the majority avoid it like the plague.

While we THE GLOBAL MORAL MAJORITY allow an extremely courageous young man to battle, single handed, the most powerful organised criminal organisation in the world today -- the US administration and its military Pentagon enforcing arm – ALONE, we have not only failed brave Bradley Manning, HERO of our time, we have failed ourselves, justice and CIVILISATION! Bradley Manning, Hero Bradley Manning's Nobel Peace Prize posted by David Swanson via sal, 2013-03-26 08:35:47
No individual has done more to push back against what Martin Luther King Jr. called "the madness of militarism" than Bradley Manning. The United States is the leading exporter of weapons and itself spends as much preparing for more wars as the rest of the world combined. Manning is the leading actor in opposition to U.S. warmaking, and therefore militarism around the world. What he has done has hurt the cause of violence in a number of other nations as well. The Brotherhood posted by Ethan Indigo Smith via bluey, 2013-03-24 03:07:18
The value of all that you know and all that you've been taught can quickly be outweighed and forgotten by your belief in and support of man made national, racial, religious and cultural institutions. All wars root themselves in a bed of belief in and support for existing institutions and in the hatred of stigmatized individuals within varying alternative institutions. All zealotry and loyalty begins in the feeling of being involved in an institutional family. People are convinced that they are part of an institutional family, an institution that presents itself as immortal. (full story)

Who Does ‘Your’ Government Serve? posted by jen, 2013-03-23 22:43:45
Fair question with an obvious answer but let’s elaborate a little so there’s absolutely no doubt.

Do you feel that your government serves you and the people or does it serve the minority big end of town, the Corporatists and Bankers? Now think of the US Attorney General refusing to prosecute Wall St criminal FRAUD but kicking you out of house and home or fining you for misdemeanours. (full story)

The Dilemma of Western Minds Approaching Eastern Philosophies posted by sadh, 2013-03-23 10:21:16
I recently read a short article by Western Buddhist, ‘llar’ titled, ‘Suffering and Design.’ The piece began in typical western fashion with concepts, i.e. created cultural thought habits so often repeated they are accepted as given ‘realities’ when in fact they are fabrications or arbitrary social fictions/conventions designed to enable social management by crafty ruling elites or anyone willing to exploit the feeble minded. The concepts referred to are ‘dukha’ and ‘sin,’ which roughly render as ‘suffering’ and out of ‘step/synch/alignment,’ respectively. (full story)

Corporate lackeys, Gillard and Rudd The Oz Electorate is Not Amused posted by judd, 2013-03-21 06:42:29
Yet another leadership contest between insular Oz politicians completely oblivious to the sentiment of the PEOPLE; indeed, the electorate is NOT amused by the antics of both major parties. It has become clear that Federal politics in Australia is all about ‘us,’ i.e., competing politicians, not the welfare of the people or nation. (full story)
