The tragic rape and murder of young Irish national, Jill Meagher, in Melbourne recently has not only traumatised Oz society, this senseless violent crime has gained international attention. Our first consideration at this time is to extend our sincere condolences to family and friends over their tragic loss and to re-assure everyone that justice will be served in all its aspects.
We appreciate family members requesting social media to tone down attacks on the brute that raped and murdered Ms Meagher in the prime of her life. However, we are also aware that this man's life will not be worth 2 cents once he is incarcerated, such are the forces that work against this type of animal in Oz prisons.
No doubt the authorities and defence lawyers will request protective custody/'isolation' for the entire term of his sentence. This animal will have a choice, a fast and quick end in the general prison population or to suffer the torture of a slow corrosive insanity induced by protective custody/'isolation'. Either way justice will be served.
If we as a society are to learn anything from these senseless tragedies; Ms Meagher's tragic demise should sensitise us all to the many needless deaths that occur in the world today. In this regard we refer directly to the ongoing civilian killing criminal activities of the USA and its horrific war record. Far too many INNOCENT men, women and children have been slaughtered for Corporate/Banker profits only.
To say the world tires of such needless and heinous crimes is understatement. If we all ACTIVELY engaged in preventing senseless deaths -- where we are politically able -- and focused on bringing all KNOWN lying political and corporate criminals to trial, our societies and the world would benefit no end from OUR efforts.
We are the World and we are responsible!
RIP Jill Meagher.
UPDATE - Sky News October 1: As previously stated, accused rapist and murderer, Adrian Bayley, is to receive the highest level of 'protective custody' the State of Victoria can offer.
Meagher accused safety fears - report
Accused rapist and killer Adrian Ernest Bayley will receive Victoria's highest level of protection in jail amid fears for his safety.
Jill Meagher's death has been met with fury, with some prisoners wanting to kill Bayley, while others have prayed for her during a church service at the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC), The Herald Sun reported.
Bayley is in danger from fellow inmates because of the nature of the case, and may be moved as early as Monday, the paper said.
The major offenders' unit, which handles high-profile and gangland inmates, has been assigned to handle his placement. Bayley is likely to be transferred to the MRC or Barwon Prison.
Bayley, 41, of Coburg was arrested last Thursday afternoon and has been charged with Ms Meagher's rape and murder. He is in custody awaiting a committal mention hearing on January 18.
