Sea

the sea is unfettered,
land does not interrupt it
it merely protrudes from it

there is a great lesson to be learned
from the sea,
rather than directly battle with obstructions
in its homogeneous expanse
it surrounds, embraces and relentlessly erodes
until the sea’s homogeneous integrity
once again conquers all
and land that once was
becomes the bottom of the depths
as new land rises from the ocean floor

when no immediate resistance is detected
the obstruction foolishly believes it has prevailed
and is lulled into a false sense of security,
before it realises it is under threat
it is overcome and replaced with fresh new
land from the depths

many continents have come and gone
as a result of this relentless process,
the only consistency throughout
the process is that the sea never loses its
character and integrity

it remains the sea
