It should be remembered that it was American globalisation and the corporations that went off-shore, lured of course by cheap labour in other nations (particularly China) which created the trade imbalance in the first instance. These unpatriotic corporate actions are largely responsible for the trade deficit. So if America is looking for the cause of trade imbalances, look in the mirror. Corporations would sell their grandmothers if it meant an increased bottom line -- Trump is pissing in the wind with his inaccurate emotive rhetoric. The blame for trade deficits lays squarely with the greed of American banks and corporations that abandoned the American people for increased profits.
