there are many forms,
my most favoured
is the deep, familiar
‘i’ve known u
for a thousand years’
impression
when we’ve only just met

it’s instantaneous
casting pregnant glances
penetrating visual exchanges
and instinct pushing to fuck
on the spot

but civilised protocols
prohibit instantaneous copulation
and substitute boring ritual bullshit
and dreary game-playing

so it was refreshing to have
you spell it out
'all the better now ur here’
and me doing my best
to ensure my cock didn’t
explode out of my pants

[in these situations
there’s a lot to be said
for Neanderthal customs.]

but all the same, we
have known each
other for a thousand
years or more,
